About me
I have a degree in Communication Design from ESAD, School of Arts and Design of Matosinhos [2000] and a Master's Degree in Design from the Department of Communication and Art of the University of Aveiro [2012]. With over two decades of experience, my career began at Creatif Communication Studio [2000-03]. I coordinated and directed the Design department, working on projects for Emi Valentim de Carvalho and Visionarium. Between 2003 and 2006, I balanced my design practice at Godesign communication studio with teaching at Alquimia da Cor training centre, managing projects for Sonae SGPS and Sonae Indústria.
Subsequently, I joined the Sino Design [2006-09] agency specializing in branding and later led the Design department at Transformadora [2009-11]. During this time, I contributed to diverse projects including the Metro do Porto signage program, CVRVDÃO's centennial commemoration, and the EGP-UPBS identity strategy. Co-founding the Design and Photography Dpto [2012-16], I oversaw projects for Forte S. João de Deus Memory Center [Bragança], Contextile, the Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art, and the Archive of Digital Memory of the European Capital of Culture, Guimarães 2012.
From 2016 to 2021, I integrated Design[er] into INESC TEC, managing the organization’s visual identity and consulting on international projects such as the UT Austin Portugal Program, the InterConnect Project, and the MACC - Minho Advanced Computing Center. Currently, I am with Namecheap, Inc., contributing to the Spaceship project, a new digital platform, while also serving as a Guest Assistant Professor at Escola Superior de Design, IPCA.

By invitation, I join Namecheap, Inc. and the team working on the Spaceship project. Spaceship is a new digital platform designed to redefine the ease of establishing an online presence. Built from the ground up, this intuitive and powerful platform allows users to seamlessly purchase, connect, and manage all their digital products in one place. Whether you need a simple setup or complete control over configurations, Spaceship caters to users of all experience levels, supporting their vision, ideas, and ambitions.
● Role: I am a member of the brand foundation team, which aims to create and develop this new international brand. My responsibilities include creating concepts and guidelines for all communication pieces, as well as developing various visual communication materials essential for brand recognition.
I teach in a Degree in Graphic Design program designed to train skilled professionals in Communication and Graphic Design. The course emphasizes hands-on experience with new communication technologies and encourages direct interaction with industry partners to meet the evolving demands of creative, technological, commercial, and communication sectors.
● Graphic Design Project I: Students create practical design projects for event communication, focusing on posters and related media. They learn to navigate modern communication technologies and cultural contexts and gain knowledge of design history.
● Graphic Design Project II: Students develop practical projects for corporate and institutional signage, working on real-world scenarios. They deepen their understanding of modern communication technologies and cultural contexts and learn about design history.
● Typography: This course covers the history, development, and expressive use of typography. Students study the history of type design, learn practical typeface design skills, and apply typography in various media.

I created the opportunity to work at the INESC TEC - Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science. The institute is a private non-profit research association, with Public Interest status, dedicated to scientific research and technological development, technology transfer, advanced consulting and training, and pre-incubation of new technology-based companies.
● Role: I was responsible for integrating design and designers into the institution's structure and implementing their skills to create value, making design an asset and, consequently, an important part of its intellectual capital. Alongside this integration, I was also responsible for renewing the overall communication concept to promote and enhance the image and prestige of the institution and its R&D centres internally and externally. Responsible for the visual image and its application to several media communications under the initiatives and the events organised by or with the involvement of INESC TEC and its R&D centres. Renewal of the corporate identity to promote the institution's image and reputation at internal and external levels. Furthermore, I was involved in designing the graphic identities of R&D projects such as iiLAB - Industry and Innovation Lab, SmartGrids - Laboratory of Smart Grids and Electric Vehicles, UT Austin Portugal Program, InterConnect, TEC4Growth, NanoSTIMA, and MACC - Minho Advanced Computing. Lastly, I was responsible for strategically redefining the overall communication concept.

By invitation, I joined the team that initiated the project "A Transformadora," a Communication Agency, as the Coordinator of the Design Department. "A Transformadora," is the result of a journey that began in 1992 with the founding of Sino Publicidade in Porto, originally a multinational-style advertising agency. As market conditions evolved, in 1999, the company expanded into other communication areas with Sino Design for communication design, followed by Sino Web and Sino Action in 2001 for multimedia design and brand activation, respectively. By 2009, recognizing the need for innovation and a new direction, Sino Design repositioned itself, giving rise to "A Transformadora,". This new venture builds on the original team's experience but introduces fresh perspectives, methodologies, and organizational approaches, aiming to explore and expand realities through thoughtful communication.
● Role: I was responsible for the coordination, management, and creative direction of projects for multiple business groups and institutions in Corporate Identity, Editorial Design, Signage, and Packaging, among others.

Some of the notable clients I collaborated with included the Sonae Group, a major retail and distribution company; Cotec Portugal, which promotes business innovation; and the newspaper/magazine O Tripeiro.
● Role: My responsibilities involved overseeing the entire design process, from initial concept development to final execution, ensuring each project met the highest quality and creativity standards.
